島の土壌に含まれる酸化鉄（主にヘマタイト）の影響らしいですが、たまにこのように血のように染まります （常にではないのが興味深い）。これは12月15日の映像だと思われます。自然の光景で、ここまで血のようになるのはなかなか珍しいです。
